The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age

To Colonel Parker it was nearly scandalous to expose his client to the public for free. He couldn't stand the thought of fans not paying to enjoy the work of Elvis. Either they should buy a record or pay admission fees for concerts or movies. But on the other hand the manager was one of the first to realize that television could not just keep established stars in the business, but also create new ones. And so he booked Elvis on every tv show he could to make his client a household name. By 1957 the work was done and Elvis was rarely seen on television ever again. The only exceptions were in early 1960 to announce his comeback after his army stint, in 1968 to revive his by then moribund career and in 1973 and 1977 to make a fast buck. The times had changed and televised concerts like "Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite" or "Elvis In Concert" made him as much money as a movie just a few years earlier and required very little effort from his side.
